TEAC has also integrated a special technology minimizing the gap found in all CD-RWs at the laser's focal point between write and read modes, resulting in higher performance recording from TEAC products. Thanks! Rita Tennyson Vice President The Terpin Group 310/821-6100 ext. 104 TEAC SHIPS 24x10x40 CD-RW Company Responds to Industry Demand for Higher-Performance Recording and Delivers Retail Kit with Advanced Software Applications (COMDEX, LAS VEGAS, NV)-TEAC, a world leading manufacturer of CD-ROM, CD-RW and DVD-ROM storage technology, announces the immediate availability of its new 24x10x40 CD-RW drive, an internal desktop PC peripheral used for the writing and rewriting of data and audio files onto CD-Recordable and CD-Rewritable media. The TEAC 24x10x40 kit includes a full-featured software suite enabling users to create data and audio CDs, enhance digital photos and organize, rip and burn MP3 music. The TEAC 24x10x40 CD-RW drive writes data at 24X (CD-R), rewrites at 10X (CD-RW) and can playback at 40X (CD-ROM) speeds. At a 24X maximum recording speed, the 24x10x40 is capable of writing an entire 650MB CD-R disc in just over 3 minutes, storing data and/or audio, including large presentations or graphics such as photos and home videos. The new drive delivers a maximum digital extraction rate of 40X and provides a smooth, even flow of data supported by a 2MB data buffer. The TEAC 24x10x40 also has technology in place to prevent buffer underrun errors insuring successful recordings with no failed discs. This special disc-saving feature suppresses the recording process until the buffer is empty so users can record safely, even while multitasking. Because the focal point of the laser used on any higher speed CD-RW drives moves slightly between the write and read modes, TEAC has equipped its 24X with a precision servo circuit to minimize this gap automatically. This technology results in a more precise recording, and a higher-quality disc that provides an improved level of interchangeability when it is read. The TEAC 24x10x40x also utilizes ZCLV (Zone Constant Linear Velocity) writing strategy, resulting in faster average record speeds than other similar drives. In addition, its 80ms average access time is the industry's fastest for CD-RW drives, which provides for high-speed database searches. "TEAC consumers look to us for a superior combination of reliability, performance and value," states Les Luzar, division manager, TEAC America's Data Storage Products Division. "The higher speeds of our 24X make it easier and more enjoyable to create and store data in less time than ever before. The TEAC 24x10x40 CD-RW is the latest in the company's full line, which includes both internal, external and portable CD-RW products for both Windows and Macintosh users." The internal 24x10x40 CD-RW kit includes everything needed for easy installation, including one blank TEAC CD-R and CD-RW, and interface and audio cables. In addition, the 24x10x40 comes bundled with Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5.1, allowing users to select from four specific applications: MusicCD Project for creating custom audio CDs, DataCD Project for recording data discs, DirectCD for drag and drop recording and CD Copier for copying from one CD to another. TEAC also includes two additional applications for creating custom CDs: Musicmatch Jukebox for ripping and burning MP3 music and PhotoImpression 3.0 for digital photo image editing. The 24x10x40 CD-RW is available as a complete kit for Windows XP, 98SE, Me, NT 4.0 Workstation and Windows 2000 Professional at an MSRP of $149.99.
